Something I find fascinating about Wandee Goodday is that no one has kissed yet (I know Ye and Cher have kissed but...) Like not a full on make out session despite having an established couple in the show that they could be using to show us kisses. But we get no kiss sex scenes from Yak and Dee and soft, somewhat chaste scenes from Ye and Cher. We all know both couples are fucking. But the lack of kisses where normally the show would have one couple more active in that department tells me how important kissing is to this story.

Dee has stated that it's silly but he doesn't want to kiss unless he loves that person and is serious with them. But the entire show is respecting the no kiss rule which tells me that it's not silly. The entire show is respecting Dee's boundary here. And yes, Yak and Dee have come so close to kissing so many times, but they haven't. Dee has always pushed him away and Yak has always respected it when he does.

It makes me wonder what's going to happen once the main couple does eventually lock lips. Will that open the floodgates? Will the audience get to see both couples kissing then? Or will it continue to withhold that specific moment of intimacy. There's something the show is saying about the expected parts of intimacy being taken for granted and also deserving of privacy and that's up to the people in the relationship.

Kissing can be an act of love and desire, but what the show is saying is that it is not a requirement for those things. I can be completely talking out of my ass here, but something about this is really sitting with me. Not only do we get Plakao as ace representation, someone who wants a partner to cherish and be cherished without sexual expectations, but we also get the show reinforcing the ideas that love comes in all forms with so many different acts and different people are comfortable with different things. And all of that is okay. And all of those boundaries are worthy of being respected. Regardless of societies expectations for what it means to be in a relationship and be physical, whatever is right for you is right and isn't that just beautiful?

A stobin headcanon that won’t leave me alone

Growing up with his parents being Like That, Steve sees things a certain way. Things are either practical and aesthetic or practical and not aesthetic. And things that are not practical do not belong. He learned this when he realized Tommy’s mom kept every school picture but his own mom didn’t. Keeping those pictures wasn’t practical, just like keeping old clothes wasn’t practical. The moment it stopped being up to date, it was gone.

As such, specifically with clothes because that was what he had the option to choose for himself, he only kept things that looked good, that made sense to buy because he wanted to look good, or that were practical, comfortable. The latter he refused to be seen in and was just a few things in his closet.

Enter Robin

Robin, who almost exclusively got second hand from older cousins and thrift stores, who learned early on that yes, practicality matters, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have fun with it. It’s all about finding that hidden treasure, the big score. And Steve’s closet? It’s expensive, it’s tasteful, it’s boring

She tries, in vain, to convince him to liven it up a little, but he can’t get over the mental hurdle of picking something because he likes it. He’s too stuck on appearances for a long time, because if he won’t look good, why have it?

This, outside of saving the world, is her life’s mission (his love life is a whole other issue that they’re working on jointly) so she tries to ease him into the idea. She takes him thrifting, shows him the process, the excitement of finding something great. They go window shopping in stores and she watches like a hawk to see what his eyes catch on, where he lingers before moving on because it’s “not practical”. She starts putting together a list of things he likes but won’t get for himself, trying to figure out something easy to convince him on because if she can convince him on something little, that’s progress.

And then it happens. His eyes catch and he runs his fingers over it, and then lets it go. It’s perfect. It’s a pair of socks, and it’s definitely not anything he’s already got. It’s a fun little pattern, dogs wearing hats, and she knows he needs to have them. It takes fifteen minutes of back and forth, sometimes just looks, before he hesitantly agrees to get them.

And so it begins.

Socks are the thing she focuses on first, fun ones and silly patterns and it’s a perfect compromise. It’s a practical item and he can have that little pop of fun without compromising his aesthetic. She’s prepared to go slow, and doesn’t push too much as life goes on. Out of Hawkins, out of college, out into the world where she knows her calling is language but doesn’t know where to go with it, where he finds his calling in working with kids and they both become teachers (she teaches Spanish and French and tutors other languages in the side if any of her kids are interested, he teaches phys. ed and health and makes sure all the kids have fun even if they aren’t good at sports).

She keeps working on it, with gradual success. By the time they’re discussing if they’re going to get a divorce to marry their actual partners, with Eddie and Chrissy watching in amusement as they both look sad at the thought (because this is my story and I say they lived) before telling them that actually, they’ve decided to get married too - “I want to have an affair with you, Stevie, you wouldn’t deny me of that fun would you?” - she’s been pretty successful. His closet still has some boring nice clothes in it, but it’s got his fun sock collection, band shirts from the concerts they’ve seen over the years, sweaters that are objectively ugly but that he enjoys so much it makes them beautiful, and so much more. He doesn’t think so definitively about if he’s going to like how he looks in things, but picks things with more weight on if he likes something for itself.

(She refuses to admit Eddie helped, but one time Steve had pulled on one of Eddie’s flannels and ripped jeans to go get the mail because he didn’t feel like getting his own clothes out and Eddie had been very quick to show Steve how much he liked that look on him. And, well, the flannel was soft, so it made sense to add some of those shirts to his wardrobe. And if he picked those because of their colors too, that was still practical)

I don’t know where else I’m going with this (other than Steve takes Robin’s last name and Eddie and Chrissy have a long, drawn out debate on what name to keep before deciding that they’re keeping Munson because Wayne is the deciding factor)

(Wayne also figures out one day that he’s suddenly got four kids who call him uncle Wayne and eventually some who call him grandpa and well, that’s everything he could ever want)

Oh and Steve’s students? They have running bets about which socks Steve will be wearing every day and every spirit week has a fun sock day that is unofficially known as Mr. Buckley day (some kids do the whole gym teacher style looks he has too, and he gets a kick out of it every time)

Have to agree with your response to this anon. I get why BTs or even non-shippers who just enjoy canon are reeling. This season has been filled with questionable choices on the part of Tim and it is hard to trust the process when the journey has been stupid. Still, we know Lou is coming back, Buck has mentioned Tommy more in since the break up than when they were happily dating, and both Tim & OS basically said that they would have their issues. Most importantly, we are quick to talk about the lack of media literacy on the part of the BoBs while failing to follow one simple rule: be mindful of who is saying something. The only people who said that Tommy was gone for good and that was an “exit interview” were BoB journalists. We already know that most of what they say is false or fueled by delusion and yet we choose to believe that???? Sure it is possible that Tim will drop the ball on this but my guess is the plan was always to get them back together but he wanted to create drama and didn’t have any better ideas of how to do so than what we got.

I'll go blue in the face saying this (and I will eat my words if it turns out I was wrong), but more and more I'm starting to be convinced that this was, in part, a test. And I know that's what we said at first (to cope, let's be real), but honestly? I don't think we were entirely wrong. Because, if anything, this has shown Tim that we do care about Bucktommy. And, something even more important - it's shown Tim that he can give them drama, and people will actually give a shit about it (in ways they haven't done with any of Buck's past LIs).

Tim and Oliver have said in the past how they want the relationship to have their issues (gen), how they don't want a relationship to always be in a state of content (paraphrasing). Oliver went on to say he did like the aspect of will they won't they at a time when he had already shot 806. I think a lot of us forget about that fun tidbit. And if he hadn't fully shot it, he at least was aware of what was coming. We had our warnings, as much as we didn't see them, and now we just have to see if the result is good for us. But it's not crazy to think it has a possibility of being good.

And yes, the journalists are a big part of the problem (and I use journalists extremely lightly). The 'exit' interview, MG claiming Lou was gone for good and that if he came back it wouldn't be as Buck's LI (love how that has aged, btw)... we all took it too seriously. But we're talking about the same people who live to bait the buddies. Who saw the kitchen scene between Maddie and Buck in 811 and tried to spin it in Buddie's favor, even when that was the show shutting it down. Hell, MG downright tried to twist RG's own words, from his own interview. I think we'd all be much happier if we just stopped paying any attention to them (and I know that's hard, but. It's not like they deserve our attention, anyway)

Reasons I will not Accept Umbrella Academy Season 4 as Canon (major spoilers)

I wanna preface this with: This is just my personal opinion, I am not telling anyone how they should or shouldn't feel. If you liked season 4, that is wonderful for you, I wish I could say the same

These two. I do not like their little romantic side plot at all for a multitude of reasons

I know Five's consciousness is like 68, I know he's technically an old man, but his body is around 19 years old, and Lila knew him while his body was still 13 so it just feels weird

I cannot imagine being in my 30s, married with children and being in love with someone who looks like they're 19, and yes, I know 7 years alone will do numbers on someone's mind, but still

throughout their whole little love montage, I was just begging, "Please let this just be a wholesome friend thing, please let this just be a cute, close sibling like dynamic- FUCK ME, THEYRE KISSING!?"

Also Five wasn't even good to her, he lied about the book at first and just made the decision for her that she'd stay with him in that timeline forever. And yes I know he eventually told her, but even after that he kept trying to convince her to just abandon her husband, children, and family because "You're happy here." Diego and Lila have their own issues, sure, but he's still the much better option and wouldn't have tried to trap her like that.

Season 4 Five just feels.. off, he feels wrong. Bring back his little shorts and old man vests when he was in 'retirement.' Bring back the Five that went on a road trip with Klaus because he wanted to see things like the world's biggest ball of yarn or whatever it was, I don't like this Five who tries to trap a married mother in an alternate dimension with him

It just felt like a kick to the gut for the show to be like, "Oh and they ceased to exist, they were never born, none of this technically ever happened, and no one remembered or missed them. They saved the world, the timeline, and no one will ever remember them for it because it technically didn't actually happen to begin with," fuck you

These characters we got so attached to, these plots that we got so invested in, you can't just tell me, "Also they technically never happened because they were never born," what the hell??

So you know what?? No. I don't accept s4 as real. Just like the cleanse, it never happened. As far as I'm concerned, the story ended at s3, everyone is alive and well, they don't have their powers, and they all went their separate ways.

So I just watched a clip of an interview with i guess the MW writer Esta..doesnt seem as if there was any real thought to using Lestats name.. just a name she dropped to tie the universe together??

It’s unclear what Esta is doing to be perfectly honest. She tried to explain in this interview, but all it did was raise more confusion, because what she’s saying doesn’t jive with what we saw in IWTV or Lestat’s character. What she refers to as “Lestat’s worldview”…..is simply wrong even within what’s been established in IWTV.

Esta went to Rolin and asked to borrow a character from IWTV so the worlds could connect. I personally think it’s just another example of MW trying to ride IWTV’s coattails and baiting the IWTV audience into watching MW, but I digress.

Anyways, Rolin gave her Felix, who didn’t even have a name in Rolin’s script for 2x08, which shows how unimportant he is to the story. I was never convinced Lestat was Felix’s maker, and I’m even more not convinced since Esta referred to Lestat as Felix’s “teacher.” I’ve always said I think Felix is the random fledgling who appeared at the end of IWTV and is never heard from again.

However, the confusion is stemming from the fact it’s truly unclear how much Esta is even familiar with Lestat’s character or Rolin’s intentions for him and also how she’s attempting to thread the worlds together, because it doesn’t make sense at all.

In 1x03 of IWTV, we have the bench conversation between Louis and Lestat about killing the evildoer. Louis has apparently been reading Darwin, which is mainly the evolutional theory of natural selection and from that, Louis comes to the conclusion they can kill the “bad ones”, but Lestat balks at the idea by saying even the “good ones” are capable of abominations if put into the right circumstances. I’ve always had issues with that scene, because it’s removing yet another key tenet from Lestat — his love and respect for humanity. I talked a bit more about this here and how it detracts from Lestat’s actual worldview of the Savage Garden.

This is what Lestat says in The Vampire Lestat after the catastrophe at Renaud’s when he realizes he’s truly a vampire with a drive for innocent blood:

And in this Savage Garden, these innocent ones belonged in the vampire’s arms. A thousand other things can be said about the world, but only aesthetic principles can be verified, and these things alone remain the same. I was now ready to go home. And as I went out in the early morning, I knew that the last barrier between my appetite and the world had been dissolved. No one was safe from me now, no matter how innocent. And that included my dear friends at Renaud’s and it included my beloved Nicki.

He is saying that only aesthetic principles hold meaning and can be verified, because he’s a monster who exists by killing to survive and because of his very nature, something he had zero control over, the innocents are also in danger and where is the meaning in that? This theory ties back to Lestat’s crisis at the witches’ place in which he comes to the horrifying realization that the innocent women who’d been accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake would never be avenged and there would never be any grand meaning to their suffering or their death. It was just something that happened. As in, his existence as a vampire was just something that happened and would never have any true meaning. He believed he was a damned thing, something that had just happened to him, and there would never be any justice (or redemption) for that. Later, in Tale Of The Body Thief, he says he believes becoming a vampire was the cosmic fate of the universe, because he dared to survive the wolves.

Later in The Vampire Lestat, he expands on this viewpoint when he says he started playing a dangerous game with humans in which he’d follow them for weeks or months, falling in love with them, but knowing nothing could ever come from it except their death, because he was a monster who was fed by their blood. He was entirely removed from them, and it broke his heart, because he still had a reverence for humanity. He still tried his best to not succumb to his body’s lust for the innocent blood. Even up to the last books, he doesn’t ever treat humanity flippantly or with utter disregard of only seeing them as food, but that’s what we’re seeing with him in the show, and that’s being compounded by the fact he seemingly believes that only the most vicious are cut out for survival, which brings me to the MW scene.

In MW, we see Felix talking to Lasher on Loustat’s bench in Jackson Square. I wanted to kick their asses for sitting there, because it’s just blasphemous, but I digress again. Felix tells Lasher guilt is a “human thing” and makes humans “behave like sheep.” He then tells Lasher it’ll get easier, and he knows because he had a “good teacher” (Lestat), and Lestat taught him “we’re meant to cull the herd” and “it’s a natural thing like Mr. Darwin taught.”

Here’s the issue(s) with this.

For one, if this is supposed to connect back to Loustat’s conversation in 1x03, this isn’t the conclusion that either Louis or Lestat reach. Lestat refers to Darwin as “this naturalist that fogs your mind”, and Louis tells him that he got the book off Lestat’s bookshelf. I poked fun at that moment here, because it meant Lestat had simply furnished the townhouse with books he thought Louis might like and had no clue what he’d actually bought. Lestat also told Louis that trying to reason who to kill based on merit was a “set of leg irons” and hunting was “pure instinct”, which directly contradicts with the “cull the herd” aka kill the weakest mantra. Lestat was telling Louis that there can’t be a criteria on who to kill exactly because circumstances could make everyone “evil”, but Felix is alleging that Lestat told him it was natural selection which, again, directly contradicts with the stance of “every one of them is capable of abomination even those worthy of admiration.”

For another, if this was meant to hint at Lestat reading Louis’ books during his exile years to be closer to Louis (which that is actually very much in-character), it falls short, because this isn’t Lestat adopting Louis’ apparent belief system either.

There’s also the fact Lestat has been existing as a numb, catatonic shell for decades on the diet of rats and other vermin. He believed Louis was dead. He was consumed with guilt and shame over believing his actions killed Claudia and then killed Louis, and that directly contradicts with guilt being a “human thing” mantra. And just based on common sense, Lestat was in no condition to be anyone’s “teacher” and even if he tried, those callous principles are NOT what he would be teaching and especially not after everything that had happened.

Two key things happen to Lestat in The Vampire Lestat — the golden moment and the dark moment. The golden moment is when everything was illuminated with reason and everything made sense. The dark moment is when nothing made sense, day-to-day life held no meaning, and do we ever find out what it all meant even when we die?

That convoluted mess they’ve seemingly made with “Lestat’s worldview” in the show…..it’s because they apparently didn’t understand the basic principle(s) of the Savage Garden. They’re trying to shoehorn this jaded and cold outlook into Lestat’s personality, and it doesn’t fit exactly because they’re still trying to keep those two moments ^^ intact with Lestat, but all they’re doing is inadvertently erasing them with all this extra shit that just is not needed. I don’t know why they can’t understand you do not have to erase Lestat’s canon virtuous traits to prop up other characters or to tell this story.

ꕤ kaji and i are childhood friends, we met each other in kindergarten fighting over some crayons. (ofc if it's kaji it involves some type of fighting)

ꕤ he accidentally broke my favorite bracelet when he grabbed the crayon from my hand, and i cried. he said he hated me and i told him i hated him more (aw ( •̀⤙•́ ) the more you hate the more you love!! aaaa)

ꕤ we also eventually found out that we were neighbors. we were both timid at first, but soon discovered we actually liked playing with each other. (not like that ok!!! not yet. hihi)

ꕤ one time, some kids made fun of me and ren (yes first name basis omg) while we were together by the playground. they were so mean, saying stuff like: "why are you playing house with a girl, ew is she your girlfriend?" and "aren't you kaji? i thought you were a beast, but you've gone soft!"

ꕤ kaji gets very angry and upset, not because they were saying stuff about him, but because he saw i was so afraid and he wanted to protect me. he goes kaji beast mode and beats up the kids!! and i try to stop him, telling him "that's enough, ren!"

ꕤ i grab on to his arm, but he pulls it away, accidentally knocking me down :c (he didn't mean to ᴖ̈)

ꕤ thankfully hiragi sees us and punches kaji just to knock him out (yes like in canon hihi) hiragi asks me if i am okay.

ꕤ i cradled kaji and rested his head on my lap, apologized to hiragi and told him that kaji was only trying to protect me and that people misunderstand him because of his anger issues and outbursts.

ꕤ hiragi tells me not to worry, and that he understands, and we should wait for him to regain consciousness.

ꕤ kaji showed up to my house the next day, and told me he couldn't play with me anymore, because he was scared i would get hurt because of him. and that what if one day he wouldn't be able to control himself and i get involved? he said it would shatter him.

ꕤ i tried to convince him to stay, and told him it wasn't his fault, and that i'd be there for him no matter what, but he looked like he was trying to hold back on saying something, and walked away without a word.

ꕤ we eventually lost contact and went to different middle schools, then ran into each other again in high school.

ꕤ it was late night at a convenience store, and we both reached for the same peach lollipop. (cliché, i know!!) and our hands touched.

ꕤ we talked a lot while he walked me home, catching up on each other's lives too. i teased him a lot about him being the second year grade captain and the little brat covered his ears with his headphones!!

ꕤ kaji was my first everything. my first friend, my first love, my first kiss and my first time. we share everything with each other too, it's like we're each other's other halves. the left headphone to my right headphone, the lollipop to my stick. ꕤ we confessed to each other by accident. he had his headphones on, and i was pouting because i thought he wasn't paying attention to me or that he couldn't hear me, but he definitely could. i told him "you're not even listening to me, ren! what if i told you that i bought you your favorite peach lollipops? or that i like you?" his eyes widened for a second and he pulled me in closer. "what if i told you i like you too?" kaji says. ASHDNJSNSNS

ꕤ turns out hiragi talked to kaji asking him why he didn't hang out with me anymore for some time. kaji said "i might have...ended up pushing her away." hiragi then told him about how i went on and on about what a good boy kaji was, and that he didn't mean to hurt people, but sometimes they just get on his nerves. kaji said that he didn't deserve me, then hiragi tells him "then prove to her that you can be someone that she deserves." and pats him on the back.

ꕤ hiragi was no doubt going to be the best man at our wedding. speaking of wedding, after he proposed to me, kaji tells me: "you always saw the good in me, even when nobody did. hiragi-san helped me realize that." i sobbed into kaji's hoodie, and told him it was his fault that i'm crying now, and that i did all that because i love him.

ꕤ he did end up replacing that bracelet that he broke because he said "he hated seeing me cry". that was also the first time he said "i love you." and i said "no, i love you more!" he was like "wtf, why are you turning it into a competition? but the one who loves you most is me." lmao kaji!!! >///<

a/n: my relationship dynamic with kaji is "bf and gf that are also bffs", i'm always the one annoying the hell out of him, and he's just so used to it already, but for some reason could never stay mad at me. it's either we're at each other's throats or on each other's lips, there's no in between. Weapons:

Summary: General Skywalker manhandles you as he tries to teach you how to use a new weapon.

Warnings: None but I might write a p2...

“Oh hey, be careful with that.” General Skywalker broke through your concentration and rushed to your side, stopping you from picking up one of the blaster guns off the wall. 

You had gone towards it because it was so unfamiliar to you. Naturally, you didn’t use these weapons very often, preferring your lightsaber above everything else. But war had made you a bit more uncivilised and often required lower forms of combat.

It was larger than a hand gun, and a strange almost round shape- possibly indicating quite a lot of power in the blast. You were only curious to try it out. It could come in handy.

Before you could grasp it, Anakin's hands swiftly closed around yours, taking the blaster from your grip. "These are new issue," he explained, his tone protective and possessive, though tinged with amusement.

You raised an eyebrow, trying to mask the involuntary flutter in your chest at his touch. "I can tell. I just wanted to familiarize myself with it.”

His blue eyes darted around the hangar, calculating the situation. You weren’t technically due to leave for another hour. "I can show you how it works, but this enclosed area isn't the safest place for it."

“Then by all means General, lead the way.” He nods at you and gestures behind him in the direction of the lower training rooms.

"I didn't know you were interested in expanding your combat skills," Anakin remarked as the two of you descended into the training area. "I took you for a more traditional fighter."

You couldn't help but roll your eyes. “In the current climate I don’t find that view overly convincing. I will do what I must. Even if that means using weapons of a… less elegant variety”

Anakin chuckled, the low, resonant sound sending a shiver down your spine, "Of course, staying ahead of the game is essential. You never know when you might need to handle one of these."

As you entered into the training room, Anakin pulled out the blaster gun he had taken from you earlier and handed it back. "Now, let me show you the basics. It's not too different from using a standard��but it is very powerful. First just shoot how you normally would and we can work out the specifics later.”

You took the blaster gun from him, feeling the weight of it in your hand it was markedly different from your lightsaber, from what you were used to, but you were eager to learn. You got into your normal stance, feet should-width apart, arms straight, one eye closed. 

“Alright, actually-” Anakin had other ideas. With sudden swiftness, he closed the distance between you, standing directly behind you and placing his hand over yours, guiding your grip on the blaster's trigger.  “It’s a little more complicated than all that.”

For some reason you couldn’t breathe. He was so close you you, his tall hulking frame encompassing your body, pressed up right against you back, you felt his every exhale on your neck. He must have asked you a question or given you a direction but you didn’t hear him at first. 

So when his foot went between your legs and nudged your boots apart on the floor to give you a wider stance, you started. 

“Y/N pay attention, this is a dangerous weapon, the backfire is absolutely brutal. Someone with your… small frame… You’ll be blown right back."

You nod, trying to regain your composure. “Yes General.” Your voice was unsteady but you did as he indicated, you spread your legs a bit more, you let him pull your shoulders back, and rearrange your fingers on the hilt. 

He stood beside you, his presence reassuring and distracting all at once as he guided you through the process. “You have to make sure your stance is stable. You want a firm grip on the blaster, but don't tense up too much. Keep your breathing steady. And when you're ready to fire, just squeeze the trigger gently."

You aimed at a target across the training room and squeezed the trigger, sending a blaster bolt flying. It missed the target by a wide margin, hitting the wall instead.

Anakin grinned, clearly amused. "Not bad for a first attempt. Remember, it takes practice. Let me show you again." He took the blaster from your hand and effortlessly hit the target dead center.

You raised an eyebrow, determined not to be outdone. "I can do better than that.”

“Prove it.” He said simply.

As you continued practicing, Anakin watched you, his eyes tracing over your form and taking in every movement. It made you feel self-conscious, but the thrill of his attention was undeniable.

The two of you spent the next half-hour in the training room, with Anakin patiently teaching you the intricacies of using the blaster. He was a skilled instructor, even if he was a little touchy. 

He continued to provide guidance, his proximity sending shivers down your spine. Your aim improved drastically, and you managed to hit the target dead center multiple times in a row. Anakin couldn't help but grin at your success. "See, I told you it just takes practice," he said, admiringly. “Now,  you should only use this weapon when you are in a guarded position, I don’t think you should use it on the battlefield, it is too bulky and requires too much stability which I don’t think you’re going to get a lot of.”

“Of course.” You couldn't help but focus on the sensation of his chest against your back, vibrating with his words. The firm grip of his hands on yours, and the intimate way he had adjusted your stance. Your heart raced, and you hoped he wouldn't notice 

Anakin stepped back, finally breaking the physical contact between you. "Remember, it's all about control and precision. You've got the potential for both."

You took a deep breath, determined to regain your focus. As you caught yourself, you tried to put some distance between the two of you. You didn’t want to give him the wrong impression, but you also didn’t want to ruin the moment. “Thank you, General. I appreciate your help.”

Anakin looked at you, his eyes softening, and his lips curving into a small smile. “You’re welcome. Anytime.”

You could sense something between you two- a tension that was hard to deny. You wondered if it was just you or if he felt it too. It was an unspoken attraction that neither of you wanted to address. Anakin stepped closer as he reclaimed the weapon from you hand, his gaze locking onto yours. There was something inexplicable in his eyes. ”You're a quick learner. Maybe you'll even surpass my skills one day."

You chuckled, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "We'll see about that, General Skywalker.”

Anakin nodded, his hand brushing against yours as he took the blaster from your grip. “I guess we will, but if you ever need a refresher you know where to find me.”

You nodded, your mind racing with the possibilities of what he meant by that. Did he mean that you could always come to him for training or was there something else there? The possibility of something more than just training sessions with Anakin made your heart race.

Your question was soon answered. With a slow, deliberate motion, Anakin leaned in, his lips inches from yours. The anticipation was electric, and it felt as though the entire galaxy held its breath.

Just as your lips were about to meet, the loud clang of a nearby training droid startled you both, breaking the spell. Anakin pulled back abruptly, a mixture of frustration and longing in his eyes.

“Duty calls,” he said, his voice hoarse. “I’ll see you later, Y/N.”

You nodded, trying to catch your breath. “Later, General.”

As Anakin left the training room, you couldn't help but feel a sense of deep disappointment. You had been so close to finally kissing him, but duty always seemed to get in the way of your desires.

But as you took a moment to catch your breath, you realised that Anakin's presence had left a lasting impression on you. You couldn't deny the attraction you felt towards him, but you also knew that the Jedi Code prohibited relationships between Jedi. And you weren’t even sure the two of you would survive this war. 

But you couldn’t get him out of your head. You would continue to train with Anakin, improving your combat skills and enjoying the moments of intimacy that came. If he tried to kiss you again you would let him.

Have had a couple of days and a rewatch and some mulling to put together my thoughts:

The good:

the writing - I've talked at length about the use of metaphor, symbolism, allegory and the like to add meat and substance to the narrative

the continuity tied in to S1 and the foreshadowing coming full circle, plus running themes continuing

the music is flawless throughout - both the soundtrack with songs and the original score and the way old motifs are used to add parallels and depth to scenes

the acting across the board has been staggeringly good. Especially for Taika, Rhys and Con. I can see why so many reviews had been raving about it.

the bits of set-up for S3 that have been planted if/when they get it

new characters who are an absolute delight

Family Trauma the TV show - intense to watch but cathartic af

Badass ladies and the soft boys who love them

Auntie.

The bad:

too much story and not enough time to tell it

sacrificing a lot of crew-related stuff - I know this is primarily the Ed and Stede story, but we're told that Olu was always talking about Zheng, but we never even got a single line of it. Buttons' disappearance gets one sus line. We gloss over the probation and why Ed is back in his leathers literally the next day. Again, I know, time constraints, but it does feel weaker for it.

speedrunning so much that it's taken several rewatches to catch everything that's going on - yes, it can work as a narrative device, but not all the time

still not over Zheng falling for Ricky's gift. Do not trust the aristocratic white dude, especially not when you've been blackmailing him. And I know there's some logical sense to her being so used to being able to manipulate desperate people on the fringes with both carrot and stick, but it feels like severe underestimation on her part about how ruthless and cruel and petty Ricky could be. He's not like the pirates - he has the power and privilege and it feels like she ignored that.

whatever that Teal Oranges pivot was so Jim could have a girlfriend, especially since they didn't have time/space to actually develop the Olu/Zheng and Jim/Archie stuff. Archie was barely a scrape of characterisation because of time constraints.

The ... Forbs Boding

Izzy - it falls under the typical archetype of Loss of a Role Model especially given all Ed's dad issues, which I thought we were beyond, but then it also fits with the running motif of the show of change, death and rebirth. We've had confirmation of the existence of a place between life and death plus a character who was beaten to death coming back from it and a seawitch turning up at the grave. I can see why it was done as it has been foreshadowed since "the only retirement we get is death" but after all his growth in S2, having Ricky be the one to get the jump on him is... hm. I feel like they had him and Ricky talking and Ricky causing his death for a reason. Feels like there's set-up for S3 planted and ready. My Forbs, they are A-Boding. ffs, they Obi-Wanned him right after he did a speech about "our spirit will last beyond your whole fucking empire". Strike me down and I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine vibes.

The way trauma is/isn't being dealt with - I feel like there's stuff there that is set up for S3 as well, because we've seen how Stede is still bottling all his stuff and hasn't dealt with any of it, while Ed has done some processing and started to make peace with himself over it. Stede still has his mental lockbox and while he tries to pretend it isn't there, it still informs so many of his decisions.

All the Star Wars vibes - I've always been convinced this was the Empire Strikes Back season and now, they have all the pieces in play for the Return of the Jedi arc: Stede and Ed are together and recovering but will have a role to play, Izzy is in carbonite with a seawitch control panel, their allies are out there getting pieces in place, and the Imperial figurehead villain who showed up in S2 is still out there and convinced he holds all the power. And I just realised that this means that if they use Hornigold, he's the equivalent of Boba Fett - Bounty Hunter for the Empire XD

On the whole, I am content with it and am already having thoughts about the potential for S3, but I find it incredibly frustrating knowing how much more it could have been with the budget/time they wanted and didn't get.

Season 1 and 2 pogues would be horrified at the way they treated JJ in season 4, esp part 2. The lack of thought, care, concern, togetherness. The scene between JJ and John b in season 3 when John b says he lied and now his dads in trouble and JJ comforts him and says we’ll figure it out - that vibe was completely missing from the pogues dynamic in season 4. Yes we got funny, heartfelt scenes of them building poguelandia and surfing, but the deeper connection between them all was missing. Is that due to writing or real life vibes coming through on screen? Either way, it was obvious and hard not to feel it.

In a similar way, season 1 and 2 JJ would also be horrified at how his relationship with Kiara was in season 4. I don’t even want to elaborate on it that much either because it’s all been said in the fandom and it seems we all agree, but that was not Jiara. At first I wasn’t sure if it was me being let down because of the high expectations I had in my head from loving this couple, thinking critically about their journey, fanfics, etc. but the unanimous disappointment and criticism has validated those feelings for me, telling me that even casual viewers came to similar conclusions. After part 1, I was let down by Jiara but tried to convince myself I wasn’t, and then part 2 really opened my eyes to their relationship through the whole season and I hated to admit I was disappointed. I don’t even want to get into JJ dying because again, it’s been said and agreed on for the most part, that that was awful writing, lack of understanding of a character, character assassination, and a totally missed opportunity for great storytelling. No matter how the decision was made.

I just imagined season 4 way different and such a different direction for these characters and story. Again, is that me being too close to it and bias? I don’t think so because again even casual viewers noted the messiness of the plot, unnecessary storylines, plot holes, storylines that started and went no where, etc. The show runners had a great chance to redeem season 3, but they truly lost the plot with this season and it showed.

Hi, you make some interesting points :) I just responded to another ask, where I am talking about the disconnect between what kind of show the Pates wanted to create and what show the fans wanted. Just like you, I talk about the lack of deeper connections and unfinished story lines if you want to read that :)

Touching what you said about the expectations for season 4, my biggest issue is how different part 1 was to part 2 and how it was promoted.

When they promoted the season, the main selling points they used were that we would get the vibes of season 1 back, the Pogues together, having lots of scenes together with banter and we were promised a season full of Jiara. And in my opinion part 1 actually delivered! So when they promoted part 2 in similar fashion, I had no reason not to believe them!! I was super excited and then I watched it…

And suddenly the Pogues were being split up again. There was so much time spend on JJ and Groff (which yes, was needed for the plot but fans hated how much screen time John B and Big John got together in season 3 so why are you repeating something the fans hated?). I understand as the season progresses, the stakes must get higher and we obviously won’t see the Pogues surfing and hanging out in episode 9. But it was 180 on how out of nowhere the show was only about the action and the hunt for the crown and the villains, and the characters themselves suddenly didn’t matter. And I don’t even have to mention how Jiara was suddenly non existent. Like you couldn’t even tell they were supposed to be a couple.

That’s why I think feeling disappointed is valid. We were promised something we didn’t get! And as a big fan myself who was so excited to watch it, I was extremely sad about it all, and as you can clearly see, it’s still heavily on my mind three weeks later.

I just wanna live in a world where Tom is canonically autistic and his entire arc in All Stars would have been to learn that yes, you can unmask and some people will still like you for who you are. Maybe he did work on himself after season 1, maybe he got a diagnosis as an adult after feeling weird and out of place his entire life. It would have been fun to see him unmask, both literally and metaphorically. I don't know if I would have made him a cop tho, but that's on me. I think he would do much more good as a park ranger or something. He always loved nature, but befriending Gabby is what made him realize his true potential. Tree huggers besties for the win

I think it would have been lovely to see an autistic adult connecting with others despise his inner struggles and showing his strenghts (making plans, great memory, a natural leader, literal body strenght) as much as flaws (scared to show his real emotions, overstimulation, clumsiness and not fully understanding social clues).

Of course Tom wouldn't have ghosted Jake for two years, but maybe he's been acting distant on text/video-calls for some time now. Oh boy if I hc him as scared af of Jake discovering his real self. He's so convinced that Jake fell in love with his "normal" version and now whatever he actually is now- is not worthy of his love. Or maybe he thinks that Jake would treat him differently if he discovered his diagnosis. I could see Tom trying to mask too much around him, to the point that even Jake can tell he's hiding something from him. Maybe I would have kept the silly Jake/Tom/Aiden drama for two episodes, because Jake would have still jumped to the worst conclusion first. But James isn't booted first for this reason, dear god. Jake would grow suspicious of Aiden after some time, because Tom doesn't bound with Aiden THAT fast to the point of being an enemy in Jake's eyes in a single day. Let some episodes pass, let this drama being a background issue in the big schemes of things, until Jake sees Aiden and Tom holding hands and cuddling or something from afar. It does look very suspicious when your maybe-boyfriend-maybe-not acts weird around you and gets intimate with someone else. Now that's when Jake acts like he did in the original series, let's say around the musical episode. Tom and Aiden do NOT kiss on stage, anyway. But he gets reminded of what he saw in the woods earlier and that memory haunts him. But you know what? Jake decides to do better than his past self and tries to confront Aiden, first. He can't stand traitors, but since Tom keeps avoiding him, what else is there to do? Aiden, of course, acts like a mature person and doesn't out Tom to Jake directly. But he does says that what Jake saw earlier was Tom feeling so overwealmed that he couldn't even breath properly and he needed someone to calm him down. He tells Jake that Tom is scared of being treated like a big baby and doesn't want to show that to anyone else- besides himself. Why is that? Aiden says that he "gets it". He could be neurodivergent himself, or maybe James is or maybe he's got a close relative or friend who is. He just gets it, but Jake doesn't get what "it" is.

AIDEN: "Why don't you ask him for yourself?"

JAKE: "TSK! As if, he keeps avoiding me and acts like a weirdo whenever I want to talk"

coming back after writing all the stuff, there’s a lot so i’m putting a ‘keep reading’ thing. seriously there’s so much

what was going through my head… hm. it’s like, i imagine Marcy having lots of nightmares about things that happened to her, or things that could have happened, stuff like that. i’ve read a lot of fanfic so now i really like the idea of her clutching her shirt when remembering being impaled. or even just for comfort, to know that her weakest point is covered in moments of terror. also she’s crying. sobbing. the only times she recovers quickly after bad nightmares is when she’s with the others.

i really like the idea of the Core not only sticking her in a box in her mind, but also showing her things. like to keep her from trying to get out. can’t resist if your mind is shattered and devoid of hope! anyway i mean like using the illusions to show her various things, situations, people. more peaceful ones where she’s with her girls, only to realize they aren’t there. terrifying ones where they make her live through her worst memories, her betrayal (of her and by her), her death, her torture and possession. twisted situations where Anne and Sasha proclaim that they can’t be seen with her, they can’t trust her, even hate her for what she’s done. sometimes the Core sticks her in unending darkness so they don’t have to think of anything, or if they’re focused on something else and need her out of the way (this is where the thing about being unable to sleep or feel safe in complete darkness is from). sometimes they’ll make a fake scene where it seems as though she is being shown what her body is doing, she can see through her eyes, and then she hurts people. kills people. sometimes it will be real, but she doesn’t know that, and she will still hurt people. when whoever in the Core in charge of her is feeling particularly cruel, they’ll do a simulation of her being saved. rescued. freed. forgiven. she’s finally with her girls. but. she isn’t. she’s still here. of course they didn’t save her, why would they? she’s a horrible person, and she did so much unforgivable stuff? why would they ever want to save someone like her? (shit this is long, yeesh. well i’m having fun soo-) sometimes Anne and Sasha kill her as she’s possessed, because she needs out of the way, and her life doesn’t matter anyway. sometimes they free her and then take their fury at her out on her by hurting her.

recovery from that is incredibly hard. when she’s rescued, she doesn’t believe it. firmly denies it, hides from them, tries to keep them from hurting her, curls into a ball and refuses to acknowledge them. because they aren’t real, they aren’t. hasn’t she been through this enough? it takes the others a while to convince her she’s in reality, and that yes, they do really forgive her. she’s actually completely free.

later in life she has trouble discerning reality from her nightmares. she has insane trust issues. she can’t walk, not by herself. she’s terrified of fire, because fire is what impaled her, killed her, and fire is the color of the eyes that haunt her. a small zap of static electricity is enough to send her into a flashback of her possession, of the chair, of fire and lightning and code flowing into her, burning burning burning. once someone tried to calm her by grabbing her wrists, which only sent her further. the cuffs. they chained her down. she can’t move she can’t move! the color orange makes her nervous, if there’s too much of it she half convinced they’ve taken over somehow and tinted her vision the color of her nightmares. (looking at this you’d really think i’d be able to write something. i should write something) sudden complete darkness, such as someone turning off a light without warning, has her half believing whatever just happened wasn’t real, that the Core got bored and stuck her in the darkness. sound and small lights can help her come back to reality. sound because the Core wouldn’t let sound into their void, that would defeat the point! and small lights because if it all comes back quickly it just means the simulation has been turned back on. better to show her something small but concrete. Anne and Sasha have gotten really good at realizing when she needs a reality check, and then knowing her to ground her. (btw she doesn’t move away because i need her to have a support system. she might actually go crazy if she’s separated from her friends) ( whAT THE FUCk-?? this is so long! i need to wrap up! holy shiiiit) Marcy likes to hold their hands to help her remember where she is. physical touch is very grounding. the Core could never get it right so it’s even more so. after some nightmares she flinches from touch, so other things are needed, but once she’s returned from the hell in her mind she needs touch. sometimes weighted blankets help to ground her when she feels as though she might almost float away, sometimes they chain her down and trap her beneath the weight of all her mistakes.

there’s probably more, but if i kept going i’ll just have written a whole ass fic in an ask answer. hope you liked it! if not idk what i can give you (you’ll like it, because it’s great)

Did Aemond want his brother dead?

(That scene from my pro-Aemond perspective.)

I’m still struggling to severe ties between the book-version and show-version of the characters, so I think that also influenced my interpretation of the scene (and I’ve tried my best to focus on the show-characters here).

Personally, I don’t think Aemond wants Aegon dead, necessarily. I actually think Aemond doesn’t really give a shit about what happens to him anymore.

Aemond was, however, clearly pissed that his brother showed up unannounced, especially given that Aegon has been portrayed as incredibly incapable in both strategy and battle.

But from a battle perspective, Aemond is warranted in his reaction because Aegon compromised the strategy they had to lure out a TB dragonrider and eliminate them while gaining control of Rook’s Rest. Aemond (just like Aegon) has his own motivations driving his need for glory, but at the very least, his brother was forcing Aemond into submission and obedience as the expected reaction would be to abandon the original strategy and save the King.

We see his frustration when he sights Aegon’s arrival. Though it does appear he delays joining the battle to let Aegon ‘suffer’, I personally interpreted that as Aemond deciding to stick to the original strategy and defy the expectation to go to Aegon’s aid. He doesn’t allow Aegon’s arrival to change the decisions they made (and when the signal is given, that’s when he and Vhagar finally take to the sky.)

Aemond doesn’t respond well to Aegon compromising his plan, and due to their brotherly-feud, he stubbornly disregards saving the King and instead focuses on what he came to do, making Aegon collateral damage.

Personally, I interpret this look as more “You should have stayed out of my way” rather than “now I can be King.” (But that’s just me.)

Is it stupid? YES. And that’s one of my several issues with the changes in the show. Book Aemond (even if he was feuding with Aegon) would not have eliminated one of their dragons when they were already specifically strategising how to eliminate TB dragons to gain some advantage. Aemond is should be smarter than this (thanks Ryan Condal).

However, I think his loyalty to Aegon is now non-existent and he has his own priorities, and Aegon was basically in the way of those priorities, which started with eliminating Rhaenys and Meleys. And given the way that the show is portraying Aegon, I wouldn’t be surprised if the narrative becomes that ‘he was pretty useless as a dragonrider anyway, so no real loss if it means the target was eliminated’. Collateral Damage.

Many people are convinced that Aemond was about to finish Aegon off but in fact he was actually sheathing a sword, not removing one. If you ask me, he was ready to have the same moment with Aegon that he had after killing Rhaenys, but in a more powerful and triumphant way because now Aegon has to live with knowing that even has King, Aemond was and is more powerful than him. To me, that is far more impactful for Aemond than killing his brother. He will relish that his brother will have to live with the truth of this outcome, especially given that he will now likely be named Prince Regent in his brother’s place.

I don’t really like it, tbh. It’s petty and theatrical and I personally feel like they could have gone several other ways which still left both these characters on the same path as they are now. I still feel that, had this feud been inevitable, it should at least have been done over the course of the entire season, not in the space of 3 minutes 3 episodes, and this should not have been the place for Aemond to exert his dominance and power over Aegon. As their first real battle with TB, it was vital that TG prove their power and unity (even if faked) in this battle and rise as a true threat to TB, but not even the audience sees them as a threat now.

Because the way Aemond looks on his dragon after killing Rhaenys is a clear sign that this side of him has been unleashed and his is now a potential liability to TG if not contained.

So where do they go with Aemond from here? If he is already appearing to be willing to sacrifice his brother for his own priorities, how does this arc continue? What does he do next that is even more shocking? I fear what the showrunners will have his character do to stay on this path they’ve only just started him on.

I’m obsessed with how Ewan Mitchell is portraying Aemond but unfortunately I’m just not sold of the rewrite of his character if the rest of his arc continues with this overt characterization.

So I was on Reddit reading ways to improve the Savanaclaw arc. This got me thinking of another way to improve it. What if Ruggie and Leona kidnapped Yuu during that arc? Hear me out.

Like Yuu sees Ruggie use his unique magic on someone. Either Ruggie takes off and Yuu goes after him or they follow him alone into Savanaclaw. But no matter what direction, Yuu gets caught and is held hostage in their dorm so they don't spill the beans. If Yuu is a girl, those two would still treat her well by putting her into her own room in Savanaclaw like how Jamil did in Scarabia, giving her high quality food and even having some hapless student from that dorm play housekeeper for her.

For one, it would show their cunning and intelligence. One big issue that I and a lot of others have with that arc is that Leona and Ruggie boast about their plans and how they are so evil like telenovela villains. But by doing this, it makes them make a seemingly clever decision that would prevent them from getting caught instead of being so cocky that they blab their plans like dumbasses. It would also show how low Leona and Ruggie sank for pulling this. Savanclaw is survival of the fittest, but I don't think even Leona would resort to taking hostages. If the fic is Yuu/Leona or Yuu/Ruggie, it could get some interesting interactions and bonding moments.

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda tempted to go in this direction in my fic series, because I can see them pulling this if those two retained their intellgence. But either way, I would love to see a fic about this.

Its an interesting idea. A few changes i would make though.

Leona would know kidnapping is a big deal so he would be way more sneaky about that. He'd make Yuu think they are not being held by basically giving them an incentive to come speak with him. This way its of Yuu's own volition rater than him or her being kidnapped.

Second, I'd put the Yuu outside of Savanaclaw. Yes to their own room but Leona wouldn't leave evidence in his own house. So maybe either on the grounds of the dorm (pride rock like place in the map background or the playing field) or on the school grounds (coliseum, castle or other buildings).

Last. I'd have him try to convince Yuu to be on his side. Tell them about why he's doing this, play up to their sympathy. Pull a bit of Zira from Simba's pride, and have Yuu have to out wit Leona to escape.

There's a game called Code Realize where one character kidnaps the lead and puts her in a house that matches the home she's staying in. Girl is a dooms day weapon so kidnapping is actually warranted to keep people alive, but not important her. Point being, she talks with him, he tries to convince her to side with him, she refuses. Then ends up busting out of the place showing she's smarter than him.

I'd try for something like that with Yuu. Play with Leon's pride, get his guard down, then escape to show Yuu's cunning for survival.

Music headcanon

Ever wondered what type of music does the Slytherin Quidditch Team like? No? Well I did

Terence Higgs

He loves music. He has a Muggle gramophone (one with that funky tube) and lots of vinyls and one whole wall of his room is covered in posters.

Terry loves Elvis Presley and bands from British Wave. Gramophone always plays in his room no matter what he's doing.

He can also play the bass and learnt how to play piano when he was little but could use some refreshment of that skill.

Marcus Flint

Marcus doesn't really listen to music by himself. He doesn't like wizard-music like The Weird Sisters or Heartthrob and well, in Flint Manor or Hogwarts he can't really own a muggle device.

He mostly listens to music at Higgs so he listens to the same type of music Terence does. Marcus likes The Who the most. And often they would jump around and bop their heads passionately and scream the lyrics from memory.

Marcus used to scream "I hope I die before I get old" part from My Generation louder than the rest. Now he skips it.

Cassius Warrington

He lifes for the music. Cassie listens to punk rock and more noisy type of rock and metal.

But what he likes most are random just-starting small bands. He hates mainstream and did actually stop listening to some bands after they got popular. He says they lost their charm but really he just likes unpopular niche bands.

During the holidays Cassius often goes out to clubs with live music to find new bands.

And of course he can play the drums.

Peregrine Derrick

Perry's favourite band is Green Day. Fav songs are Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? And Panic Song.

And here's the issue, I can clearly see what he would listen to other than Green Day but is all after 90s...

He sings/raps while taking a shower. Yes, in shared showers in Hogwarts.

Graham Montague

Montague likes his music aggressive and noisy. He listens mostly to metal and screamo. He liked Neil Perry (I mean the screamo band) but then Miles told him the name origin, you know, Death Poets Society's Neil Perry and it hit too close to the home and since then Graham is kinda uncomfortable because he thinks about it while listening to their music.

What he looks out for in music is the ability to use up his energy and rage. If he you know, was a teen now and used spotify, his playlist name would be just like "Rage room music".

Miles Bletchley

He actually likes wizard bands and may (or may not) have hots for Lorcan d'Eath from Heartthrob. It's kind of embarrassing really.

Miles also loves Madonna and Dolly Parton (who doesn't).

Also, he loves musicals and songs from them. He tried so hard to convince the theatre club to perform something but sadly no one else wanted to sing.

Miles adores The Rocky Horror Picture Show, rewatches it every year and knows all the lines.
